A Second Home

We visited Frank's parents in Seekonk, MA, for a two day rest after the drive from Newport News,VA, via Harrisburg, PA. Harrisburg sits along the Susquehana River and offers countless vantage points, from the gorgeous capitol to a dozen major hills. We took a complimentary tour of the capitol that was fashioned after St. Peter's in Rome. The building is in pretty great shape considering it celebrated its 100th birthday on October 4th. Just outside the Pennsylvanian capitol, we caught up with Michelle's friends, Laura and David. We enjoyed a tasty lunch at the Elizabethtown College campus where they both work. It was wonderful to share a meal with them. Since we had such good impressions of Harrisburg, we said that we might consider moving there in the future and that we undertook our journey to scout out possible homes.

Travelling all day exhausts us and makes us appreciate a taste of home, so pulling into Frank's parents' (hidden) driveway (eventually) felt wonderful. We crashed (slept) and visited with them this morning and then drove to Sandwich, MA, on Cape Cod. Walking over a long wooden bridge that spans a vibrant marshland, we reached Boardwalk Beach and paid respects to the Atlantic Ocean, as we will soon turn west and not see such water for a month. In the meantime, it has been nice to soak up the slightly familiar and to spend time with family and friends. Tomorrow we will drive over 300 miles to Burlington, VT.
